Shopify ⇄ Dynamics 365 Business Central

Orders in the ERP untouched by hands

This is the pair we've connected most: Shopify storefronts (often several of them) on one side, Business Central on the other, usually with a warehouse or 3PL in between. Here's what good looks like, including when you don't need us at all.

What a proper connection covers

  • Orders, at order level. Each Shopify order lands in Business Central as a document you can trace, not a daily lump sum. Refunds, gift cards and discounts carry through with GST treated correctly.
  • Payout reconciliation. A Shopify payout is orders, refunds and fees settled days after the sales. We post through a clearing account so the payout matches the ledger and month-end stops being spreadsheet archaeology.
  • Stock both ways. Availability flows from BC (or your WMS) to every storefront fast enough that a launch-day spike doesn't oversell you; fulfilments and adjustments flow back.
  • Multi-store, multi-brand. Several storefronts into one BC company (or several), with per-brand dimensions so margin by brand by channel is a report, not a project.
  • The 3PL leg. Orders on to PeopleVox, ShipMonk or your 3PL's system; shipments and tracking back to both BC and Shopify. The chain is only as good as its weakest hop.

When the native connector is enough

Microsoft ships a native Shopify connector for Business Central, and for a single store with straightforward flows (simple items, standard fulfilment, modest volume) it can be enough. If that's you, start there; your BC partner can switch it on, and you don't need an integration firm.

Where we usually get the call is past that point: multiple storefronts or brands, a 3PL or WMS in the middle, payout-level reconciliation, gift cards and refunds that must hit the ledger correctly, or volumes where a 40-minute sync lag means overselling. That's integration work, not configuration, and it's the work we do all day.

Not sure which side of the line you're on? That's exactly what the free hour is for. If the native connector will do you fine, that's what we'll tell you.
